Raised in Northern Ireland, Paul Brady has been a part of the professional music scene for four decades. He drew early inspiration from the traditional Irish music of the mid-1960s. Paul’s recording career began with a group called The Johnstons, with whom he performed until the early 1970s when he became a member of the Irish folk band, Planxty. Paul eventually began a highly successful solo career, releasing five critically-acclaimed albums throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. In February 2005, Paul released Say What You Feel, his first studio album in four years.
Bonnie Raitt has recorded several of Paul's songs and made a vocal appearance on the song “Doin' It In The Dark”. Raitt has been quoted as saying, “Paul Brady is certainly one of the most underrated of our brilliant singer/songwriters, and his melodic sense is the best of anyone I’ve heard. For me, where he’s coming from – his music, lyrics, and soul – are on a level of the greatest songwriters.” Raitt also recorded Paul's "Marriage Made In Hollywood" for her album, Slipstream. In April 2015, Paul released The Vicar Street session Vol 1 featuring guest Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Bonnie Raitt, Sinéad O’Connor, Roana Keating, Gavin Friday, Curtis Stigers, Mary Black, Maura O’Connell, Eleanor McEvoy, and Moya Brennan.
